ELPM Fast Facts
- Incorporated in 1999 as a 501c(3) functioning primarily with volunteers, in-kind services and loaned executives
- Took the lead in 1999 to re-align the Fulton County Head Start program
- Partnered with Smart Start Georgia (GELI, 1999) to develop a master plan for addressing the lack of quality early learning centers in Metro Atlanta
- Raised millions in private dollars to construct or renovate 13 high quality, NAEYC accredited or equivalent, early learning centers in Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Paulding and Greene Counties, totaling approximately 310,000 square feet
- Past 12 years accumulatively served over 15,000+ young children, their families and communities
- Perform on-going maintenance of centers, projection of future maintenance and capital expenditures
- Work with other community nonprofit early learning centers to help with strategic planning for future capital outlays
- Initiated discussions with the Board of Regents and Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE) to help link colleges with local high quality early learning centers to incorporate teaching labs into their early learning degree programs to address the need for additional high quality early learning teachers
- Completed the D. Scott Hudgens Early Learning Center located on the Gwinnett Technical Campus which incorporates their early learning program into the daily activities of the center to offer hands-on, quality teacher training
- Work with other county early learning commissions to address the need for quality early learning facilities in their communities and leverage fund raising opportunities and tap into local resources
